The first hand built ceramic forms are studies on how tall you can build with porcelain.   Porcelain, a material usually assiociated with dainty and delicate, here I use in a cluncky and seemingly crude way. The building process itself was of meticulous timing. I had to find a meditative rythm to build up.  High fired with Iron Oxide as a stain.
 
The platters are influenced by Japanese pottery and ink paintings.
